State applauds Catholic church
Solwezi, April 15, 2013, ZANIS…..North western Province Permanent Secretary Augustine Seyuba has praised the Catholic Church for supplementing government’s effort in uplifting the living standards of vulnerable people in society.
Mr Seyuba said the Catholic Church has been very instrumental in the provision of quality education and health services among others to the vulnerable in society and that government appreciates such effort.
The Permanent Secretary was speaking in Solwezi today when Vatican Ambassador to Zambia and Malawi Apostolic Nuncio Julio Murat called on him at his office.
Mr Seyuba encouraged the Church to continue engaging and collaborating more with government in terms of service delivery to the people especially on issues of HIV/AIDS so as not to duplicate efforts.
He said government is very open to positive criticism by the Church for the benefit of all Zambians.
Speaking earlier, His eminence Apostolic Murat appealed to government to promote peace, unity and dialogue in the country.
His eminent Apostolic Murat said love for one another was the most important of all things and assured government of the Catholic Church’s support in issues of national importance aimed at improving the lives of ordinary people.
