-Nakonde District Council in Muchinga Province has finished its second phase project of street lights installation in the district.
District Council Chairman, Leonard Mukwasa, confirmed this in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Nakonde today.
Mr Mukwasa said the local authority has finally finished the installation of street lights in its second phase project in the area.
He said that 20 street light poles which have covered a stretch of 1kilomiter have been installed on Stevenson road that leads to the Great North road junction through the health centre to Yolo Bridge.
Mr Mukwasa further said the project will cost a total amount of KR 200,000 to be completed.
He said that the project, which will soon be commissioned to the public, had been funded by Government in order to improve security as well as the living standards of people in rural areas.
Meanwhile, Nakonde Constituency PF Member of Parliament, Able Sichula, has also thanked Government for the development which he described as a positive move in the area.
Mr Sichula said this is a clear indication that the PF Government is very committed to ensuring that it improves the living standards of people in rural areas in the country like Nakonde
He further said this will also make the local authority use its daily revenue collection to develop other parts of the district.
