—Western Province Permanent Secretary, Emmanuel Mwamba, is worried with the poor Grade Twelve school results the province is recording.
Mr Mwamba says there is no justification for Western Province to continue recording one of the poorest Grade Twelve school results.
Speaking in Senanga when he met school administrators at Senanga high school, Mr Mwamba said it is unacceptable that Western Province, being the pioneers of education in Zambia, should now be the least when it came to Grade Twelve results.
He said the Ministry of Education in the province should seriously address the factors that have led to the deteriorating standards of education.
Mr Mwamba said the 46 per cent pass rate recorded by Senanga High last year is very low, adding that the picture is similar in all the districts of the province.
The Permanent Secretary said the future of the nation depends on teachers producing pupils that will contribute to the development of the country.
Meanwhile, Mr Mwamba is not happy with the sanitary conditions at Senanga High School.
He charged that the block sewer line and poor state of water supply to the ablution blocks is a recipe for outbreak of diseases at the school.
He urged school management to improve sanitation at the learning institution before the school experiences a disease outbreak.
