Shamenda  cautions Government Drivers
Lusaka, April 5,ZANIS—-Labour and Social Security Minister Fackson Shmenda has cautioned Government Drivers  against misusing Government vehicles.

Speaking during a certificate presentation to 15 drivers from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security who underwent  a four days training in basic mechanics at Lusaka Business and Technical College, Mr. Shamenda implored the government drivers to handle government vehicles with utmost care.

He explained that Government has spent huge sums of money purchasing the vehicles hence the need for drivers to handle the vehicles with caution.

And Mr. Shamenda says every worker in the government despite their education background or position deserves to be empowered through skills training programmes.

He said his Ministry will endeavor to build capacity of all categories of employees starting from cleaners to top management.

Mr. Shamenda observed that certain categories of workers are left out in refresher courses and other trainings.

He disclosed that the next category of workers to undergo a refresher course at the Ministry will be Cleaners and Office Orderlies.

And speaking earlier, Lusaka Business and Technical College Board Chairman George Silutongwe praised government for mobilising resources to train the Drivers.

He said the institution remains open to Ministries desiring programmes refresher courses for employees.

The Board Chairperson said the institution is able to design tailed made programmes for different categories of government employees.

Meanwhile a Driver who spoke on behalf of the graduating Drivers, Athens Zulu assured the Minister that they would put to good use the skills they have acquired.

Mr. Zulu said the course was an eye opener for the Drivers adding that they now had a better understanding of vehicle operations.
