President Michael Sata has arrived in the southern city of Sanya in China’s Hainan Province.
The Chinese special plane carrying President Sata touched down at Sanya Phoenix International airport at about 16:50 hours local time.
The Head of State was treated to a quarter guard before proceeding to MGM Hotel where he will spend the night.
Finance minister Alexander Chikwanda, Commerce Minister Emmanuel Chenda, and Foreign Affairs Minister Effron Lungu accompanied the President.
Others include Zambia’s High Commissioner to China Eva Fundafunda, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, Zhou Yaxi and other senior Government officials.
On arrival at the airport, the President was received by Secretary to Cabinet Rowland Msiska, Permanent Secretaries from Foreign Affairs, Magrete Muyoba, Cabinet Office Annie Mwitwa and Commerce Stephen Mwansa.
President Sata, who is on a tight schedule in Hanain Province, will tomorrow meet his Chinese counterpart for official talks before witnessing the signing of bilateral agreements between Zambia and China at Sanya’s Sheraton hotel.
He will on Sunday attend one of Asia’s biggest fora, the Boao Forum for Asia which brings Asian countries closer to their developmental goals where he will give a speech before delivering a keynote at the Sub-Forum dubbed, ‘ Rise of an Ancient Continent’.
And on Monday, President Sata will meet the Government leader of Shenzen city before he flies back to Beijing.
