——A 21 year old unemployed woman of Livingstone has been committed to the High court for three counts of murder allegedly committed in September last year.
This follows instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions to commit Judith Kayuma who is alleged to have murdered Maureen Manuwa, Kelvin Mubanda and Alice Nawa.
Kayuma of house number E122 Libuyu plots in Livingstone
stands charged with the offence of murder contrary to section 200 of
the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that Kayuma on 23 September 2012 in
Livingstone allegedly murdered Maureen Manuwa, Kelvin Mubanda and Alice
Nawa.
Presiding Magistrate Edsen Shanduba told the accused person that she
was appearing in the magistrate’s court for the last time as
instructions had been received from the DPP to commit the matter to
the high court where the case will be heard.
And in another case Shammy Mudenda, 19, of G19/2 Batoni a taxi driver
appeared for mention in the same court facing two separate charges of rape and
robbery.
Particulars of the offence are that on January 1 2013 in
Livingstone Mudenda had unlawful carnal knowledge of Melina
Siachigali.
And in the second count Mudenda is alleged to have stolen a cell phone, slippers and
a pair of leggings all valued at K210 rebased by using violence.
When asked if he understood the charge he accepted and pleaded not
guilty for the offences.
Mudenda applied for bail which the Public Prosecutor did not object
but no sureties where available before the court and the Judge said
the bail would be considered when the two sureties required by law
before granting bail would be present.
Trail will start on the 10th of April ,2013.
And Joseph Hanene 75, a security guard of E25 Malota compound appeared
for mention in the magistrate court for trafficking in psychotropic
substances.
Particulars before the court were that on November 15, 2012 Hanene was
found with 540 grams of marijuana without authority.
He will appear for mention on 17th of April 2013, while trial will
commence on the 7th of May,2013.
In another case, 19 year old Sipho Mukosha appeared for mention in case where he has been charged for indecent assault on a child below the age of 12.
Trial in the matter begins on April 10 and Mukosha has been remanded in custody because the trial magistrate denied him bail.
