ECZ announces candidates for the Kapiri Mposhi and Lukulu West Parliamentary Constituencies
Lusaka, April 2, ZANIS—The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced a list of valid nominated candidates for the Kapiri Mposhi and Lukulu West Parliamentary Constituencies in Central and Western province respectively.
This follows the lodging in of nominations on Thursday 28th March 2013 for the polls to take place on Tuesday 23 April, 2013 between 06:00 hours and 18:00 hours.
The candidates for the central province by-elections are Eddie C Musonda, Patriotic Front (PF), Francis Mwape, United National Independence Party (UNIP), and Lawrence Zimba for the United Party for National Development (UPND).
In western province the candidates are Eileen Imbwae PF, Misheck Mutelo UPND, and Mubita Sikwa United Liberal Party (ULP)
This is contained in a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today by ECZ Public Relations Manager Chris Akufuna.
Mr. Akufuna also revealed that 15 local government by-elections in eight (8) districts from Eastern, Luapula, Northern, North western and Western provinces of Zambia will also be contested on the same day.
Among the wards are Kovyane, Singozi, Mateyo Mzeka, Mawanda and Ukwimi in Petauke district, Kajilime in Lundazi district, Mushipashi in mansa district, Kasansa in Samfya district, Kapoka and Mubemba in Chilubi District, Mwambeshi and Chubo in Nsama district, Kalombo Kamisamba and Chivombo Mbalango in Chavuma district, and Namafulo ward in Kaoma district..
The wards are being contested by various candidates from PF, UNIP, UPND, Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD), and Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD), and an Independent candidate.
