Only one out of the seventeen hardcore prisoners that escaped at Mbala state prison last week has been caught.
Mbala district commissioner, Best Kabulembe has confirmed the development to ZANIS today.
Mr. Kabulembe said the prisoners escaped after they cut the barbed wire fence during a heavy down pool of rains on Saturday.
He said the escapees were among the hardcore and dangerous prisoners facing murder charges.
The district commissioner has since cautioned members of the public to be aware of the escaped criminals and report any suspicious persons to relevant authorities.
