Four year old toddler knocked dead in Gwembe
Gwembe, March 29, 2013, ZANIS– A four year old girl died on the spot today after she was knocked down a speeding female motorists driver along Mango road in Gwembe district.
ZANIS reports that efforts to get Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela were unsuccessful by broadcast time but Police sources in Gwembe confirmed the fatal accident.
The sources said that the accident took place around 17.30 hours yesterday. They attributed the accident to excessive speed and lack of experience on the part of the driver.
Malambo Habeenzu 18 of house number 21, Gwembe Township hit and killed Nancy Makaba 4 of Lumuno village in chief Munyumbwe’s area.
The inexperienced female driver was driving a Toyota Ipsum registration number AJB 9329.
Police in Gwembe confirmed the fatal accident, which occurred around 17.30 hours yesterday to ZANIS and attributed the cause of accident to excessive speed and lack of experience on the part of the driver.
Police said that the over-speeding vehicle, which was being driven from west to east along Mango road, lost control and went and hit a four-year-old pedestrian who was off the road.
The minor sustained fatal head injuries and was rushed to Gwembe District hospital where she later died.
And earlier in the week, police in Gwembe recorded a suicide case that occurred in Pemba district.
Charles Moonga 55 of Ng’andu village in chief Hamaundu’s area in Pemba district hanged himself in his house using a fiber rope.
The deceased’s nephew, Constantino Dimuna 40, of the same address reported the matter to Gwembe police.
And police suspected no foul play and the body of the deceased has since been buried.
