Govt . grateful to FBO’s role in fighting poverty
Kabwe, Mar 26, 2013, ZANIS—- Kabwe District Commissioner, Patrick Chishala says government appreciates the efforts by faith based organisations [FBOs] in alleviating poverty and suffering of orphans and vulnerable children [OVCs] in society.
Mr. Chishala says government was ready to work with the FBOs and individuals that have running projects that are aimed at fighting poverty.
ZANIS reports that the minister said this yesterday in Kabwe District when he commissioned a water borehole worth KR45, 000 at a faith based Lufutuko Community School in Kawama Township.
Mr. Chishala further urged management at the school to continue working hard towards bettering the lives of the OVCs and pledged support to their current and prospective projects.
“I am impressed with the vision you [Management] have for this school and would therefore want to assure that as government, we will support such developmental projects targeted at bettering lives of youths especially the orphans and vulnerable children [OVCs] in society, ” he said.
Meanwhile speaking earlier, Lufutuko Community School Director, Mutinta Mwananyanda expressed delight at the gesture and was quick to mention the many challenges that the school has since inception in 2004.
Mrs. Mwananyanda, said that her school needed more classrooms to cater for the growing number of pupils at the school which caters for Kawama Township and surrounding areas.
She further said there is an urgent need for recreational facilities and ablution blocks for both pupils and staff at the school, and further called on government and well-wishers to help foster
development at the community school.
