ZNUT cries foul over exam leakage accusations
Lusaka, March 20, 2013, ZANIS…Zambia National Union of Teachers(ZNUT) Secretary General Newman Bubala says people attacking teachers on the issue of examination malpractices in the country are not being fair.
Mr Bubala said the issue of examination leakages is one matter which requires to be approached level headed as opposed to attacking teachers that they are the ones contribution to the vice.
He told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that parents are also the main culprits because they are the ones who give their Children money to go and buy leakages during exams.
Mr Bubala was reacting to attacks by Luapula province permanent secretary Jennifer Chishimba- Banda who recently charged that the increase in examination malpractices in the country is a demonstration that teachers are performing below expectation.
But Mr Bubala said teachers are doing their best to improve the education standards in the country adding that what they need is support from all stakeholders if the education standards in the country are to improve.
Mr Bubala further lamented that the teacher pupil ratio was also a contributing factor to poor examination results in schools.
