A joint central province investigation task team consisting the Anti-corruption Commission, ACC,
Drug Enforcement Commission,DEC, and Zambia Police Service have arrested a senior Kabwe Munipal Council official for alleged abuse of office.
Central province Commissioner of Police Standwell Lungu, who is also the chairperson of the task team, has confirmed the arrest of Kabwe
Municipal Council Director of Engineering Cosmas Mpundu with one count of abuse of office to ZANIS in Kabwe today.
Mr Lungu said the arrest of Mr Mpundu came as a result of the ongoing investigations concerning land allocations and other council
matters .
He said Mr Mpundu was arrested over the illegal allocation of plots and for failing to follow lay down procedures for the sale of land.
Mr Lungu said the accused will appear in court on March 25 in Kabwe followed by trial on the 28th of March, 2013.
And the Provincial Anti-Fraud’s Officer Collin Mushiba said Mr Mpunduwas charged together with another senior Kabwe municipal council officer Daniel Mapulanga who is the Director of Development and Planning who failed to avail himself before the investigative team today as he was reported to be out of town.
