Chinsali DC cautions youths against mischief
Chinsali, March 13, 2013, ZANIS…Chinsali district commissioner Evelyn
Kangwa has urged youths in the area to utilize opportunities while they are still energetic.
The district commissioner advised the youths to prepare for their future now and not end up
regretting like herself who was a naughty girl when she was growing up resulting in her not performing
well at school.
Ms. Kangwa said she does not want the youth of today to go through her childhood experience.
Ms. Kangwa urged the youth to engage in entrepreneurship as it is a strong driving force to individual
and national development.
She was speaking in Chinsali yesterday at the presidents park when she
officiated at this years’ Youth Day celebrations held under the theme
“Opportunity for Youths Through Enterprise “
Ms. Kangwa encouraged the youths to be proactive and take part in the
development process of the country.
She said that the youth are an important factor in the development of
any nation, adding that this can only happen if the most productive
labour group in the country change their mind set from white collar job
expectation and endeavor to be their own boss.
The district commissioner said the country is able to attain and
sustain meaningful social economic development with the active
involvement of young people.
Ms. Kangwa said the youth is a tremendous resource for any meaningful
development and advancement of any society adding that this is
the reason why the PF government through the ministry of youth and
sport has committed its self to improving the welfare of youths by
allocating KR19 million Youth Development Fund (YDF) in this year`s
budget.
“Entrepreneurship is an integral and vital component in the
facilitation of the youth participation in job and wealth creation for
a sustainable national development,” said Ms. Kangwa.
Ms. Kangwa added that the youth in the province have untapped skills
that need to be nurtured in order for them to attain self sustenance
and provide equitable development in the province.
Meanwhile, Chinsali District youth committee chairperson Davies Sampa
said despite youths facing numerous challenges which include
unemployment and underemployment, there is need for them to be self
reliant.
