Bank of Zambia (BoZ) Deputy Governor for Administration Tukiya Kankasa-Mabula has said economic development in Zambia will only be realised when women were fully empowered.
Dr. Kankasa-Mabula said women form the core of any developmental agenda of the country and their involvement in almost all sectors of the country’s economy cannot be overlooked.
She said this during the Citi bank’s Women Chief Executive Officers lunch at the residence of the bank’s Managing Director in Lusaka today.
Dr. Kankasa-Mabula said it was important that women were given the necessary support for them to continue contributing effectively to the country’s development agenda.
Speaking earlier, Citi-Bank Managing Director Joyce-Ann Wainaina said her bank was working hard to enhance women’s participation in the development agenda of their countries.
Mrs. Wainaina said tremendous progress has so far being made in the bank’s endeavour to connect, inspire and grow women’s networks globally in order to foster their involvement in the growth of their nations.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Gender Agenda Gaining Momentum’.
