Kambwili urges Chipolopolo to be focused
Lusaka, March 5, ZANIS ——- Government has urged the Chipolopolo boys to focus and ensure that they qualify to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Minister of Youth and Sport Chishimba Kambwili emphasized that qualifying to the tournament is a must for the team.
Speaking in an interview with journalists in Lusaka today Mr Kambwili said the team should not disappoint government by failing to go to Brazil and take part in the prestigious tournament.
He added that what the team needs to realise was that government spends a lot of money in trying to ensure the Chipolopolo boys participate in major football tournaments.
Mr Kambwili noted that qualifying to the prestigious football tournament was vital as the team would help put Zambia on the world map.
The Sports minister said the Zambian football team can qualify to the World Cup tournament for the first time as long as the players believed in themselves that they can do so.
Zambia is leading group D of the World Cup qualifiers with six points seconded by Ghana who have four points with Sudan and Lesotho sharing a point each.
In another development, Mr Kambwili said it is allowed by law to have female boxers in the country.
Mr Kambwili has since castigated those who have been saying females should not be allowed to practice boxing as a sport in Zambia.
The sports minister said for boxing to also develop and grow there was need to have female boxers also incorporated in the sport.
