30 year old Kalomo villager allegedly commits suicide
Kalomo, March 2nd, 2013, ZANIS – A 30 year old man of chief Simwachela’s area in Zimba district of Southern province on Thursday allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with his T-shirt while in the neighbourhood watch holding cells in Kabanga area.
And a 54 year old man of Magrimond compound of Kalomo was yesterday found dead and floating on Kalomo river with both his legs and arms tied together.
Police Spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela could not be reached for comment on the matter as her mobile phone was not reachable by broadcast time.
However, ZANIS reports from Kalomo that Police sources in the area confirmed the two developments in an interview, today.
The sources named the suicide victim as Milton Sumulwi who they said had been picked and detained by the neighbourhood on February 26 for using abusive language.
Unfortunately, the he later claimed his life by hanging himself whilst in the holding cells before disciplinary action was to be meted on him.
The body of the deceased has since been buried.
And police suspect foul play over the drowning of Namenda Nosiku who was found floating dead in the afternoons of yesterday and investigation over his death have been instituted as the law enforcement wing do not expect one to tie himself and later throw himself into the waters.
The body of the deceased is lying in the district hospital mortuary waiting for a postmortem.
