Road rehabilitation started
Chipata, February 25, ZANIS —— Government has started the rehabilitation works on Namuseche/Kagunda road and construction of Namuseche/Lutembwe Bridge in Chipata district.
The two projects have been in a deplorable state for many years without being attended to despite numerous complaints from the residents.
Speaking during a tour of the projects by Chipata Central Member of Parliament, Ruben Mtolo Phiri, some residents expressed happiness with the development.
Fanny Nkhata and Cecilia Banda said that it was unbelievable that the road works have started on the two projects.
They stated that once the works on the two projects conclude, it would ease transportation of produce to markets.
And Mr Mtolo stated that the road is being worked on by Chipata Municipal Council and Rural Roads Unit (RRU), as a temporal measure while waiting for major works.
The deplorable state has also been a source of concern to Chief Chinyaku of the Ngoni people who has for a long time been complaining to government officials who have visited his palace.
