Govt procures fire tender, ambulance for Mansa Airport
Mansa, Feb 25/1, ZANIS————Luapula Province Minister, Benson Kapaya, has described the purchase of a fire tender and an ambulance for Mansa Airport as a sign of commitment by government towards service delivery to the people as embedded in the PF manifesto.
Gen Kapaya says the purchase of the fire tender and ambulance is in conformity with the Sixth National Development Plan (SNDP) and the International Civil Aviation standards and recommended practices.
He said the coming of the fire tender and ambulance will provide safety search and rescue services to passengers in flights and to the community when need arises.
The Provincial Minister said this when he handed over a fire tender and an ambulance to the Department of Civil Aviation in Mansa which were procured at a cost of over KR21 million.
Gen Kapaya noted that the coming of the equipment has with it a cost implication for maintaining and other costs and observed that there is need to beef up the funding levels for the department of civil aviation to meet these costs.
He appealed to the operators to exercise maximum responsibility, saying the machines are highly automated and require special attention.
Government, through the Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications under the department of civil aviation procured fire tenders and ambulances for provincial and national airports throughout the country.
