Luapula pass rate improved
Mansa, February 20, ZANIS ————- Luapula Province Provincial Education Officer Jennifer Banda says the province has recorded an improvement in the pass rate.
Commenting on the grade twelve results which were announced to the public on Friday last week by Education Minister John Phiri, the Provincial Education Officer said the province has steadily improved in the pass rate for last year compared to the 2011performance.
Mrs Banda said the provincial target was at 60 percent pass rate but said some schools managed to go beyond the target an indication of good performance.
ZANIS reports that the Provincial Education Officer has since called on headmasters in the province to continue close supervision of the pupils so that they can prepare adequately for their examinations.
She said it is important that pupils attend classes adding that it is the only way they can prepare themselves adequately for examinations and improve further the performance of the province.
And commenting on the theft of examination papers which were reported in some schools in the province last year Mrs Banda urged pupils to prepare themselves adequately for examinations saying leakages will not help them pass the examination but how they prepare themselves for the examination.
