Siavonga hospital needs an Ambulance
Siavonga, February 19, ZANIS ———- Siavonga District Patriotic Front Chairperson in Ephraim Mwanjawanthu says there is need for government to provide Siavonga district hospital with an ambulance.
He complained that the hospital had never had an ambulance for so many years adding that a 4×4 ambulance was needed in the area to cover the rough terrain because of poor road network.
Mr Mwanjawanthu said this when the Deputy Minister of health Patrick Chikusu meet the PF officials in Siavonga at Bay hotel on Saturday.
Mr Mwanjawanthu added that the mortuary unit at the health institution was too small as it could only accommodate 3 bodies, adding that the refrigeration system for the mortuary was also poor and needed to be replaced.
The PF Chairperson also told Dr Chikusu that the hospital lacked nurses and adequate staff housing saying that there was need for government to send more medical officers and upgrade the hospital to a modern one.
Mr Mwanjawanthu has also called on government to upgrade Sianyolo, Chaanga and Nabutezi clinics to a level where a mini theatre, X-ray and maternal services could be provided.
Meanwhile Dr Chikusu assured the PF district Chairperson that government would do everything possible to ease some of the challenges experienced at the hospital.
He further said that government would soon decide whether to rehabilitate or build a modern Siavonga district hospital in order to improve on the service delivery at the health center.
