Accountant in court for theft
Livingstone, February 19, ZANIS————-A former Investrust Bank Cashier today appeared before the Livingstone Magistrate court charged with one count of false accounting and another count of theft by servant involving over KR80, 000.
Netty Muyuya Bwalya of Livingstone appeared before Magistrate Chola Musonda charged with one count of false accounting involving KR44, 210 and a second count of theft by servant involving KR40, 000 contrary to section 278 and 272 chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Bwalya who initially pleaded not guilty changed her plea to guilty on both counts after admitting to the charges.
In the first count Bwalya, who was employed as a Cashier at Investrust Bank Livingstone Branch is said to have entered false information into the system purporting to show that KR44, 210 was transferred to the main vault on December 12, 2012 when in fact not.
In the second count, Bwalya is believed to have come into possession of KR40, 000 on December 12 last year, by virtue of her being employed as a Cashier by Investrust Bank, but withheld the funds from her employer.
Magistrate Musonda recorded a plea of guilty in both counts and the matter has been adjourned to 21st February 2013 for written facts and the accused person is on police bond.
