CHRISTIAN Arts Promotion (CHAPRO) is set to host a gospel concert to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day scheduled for March 8.
CHAPRO executive director Andrew Chola, who confirmed in an interview, anticipates the event to be a success, being the first concert under CHAPRO this year.
Chola said the show will take place at Mulungushi International Conference Centre from 18:00 hours to 06:00 hours.
“We have decided to host a gospel concert on the International Women’s Day to celebrate with the women. It is the first time CHAPRO will be hosting such a concert to commemorate Women’s Day,” he said.
Chola said the concert will feature both new and old gospel divas. He added that male musicians will be among the performers at the show pegged at KR25 as a way of supporting the women.
He said with the selection of performers, it will be an event to remember and is optimistic that the would-be patrons will not be bored.
The performers will include Towera Nyirongo, Joyce Mwanza, Racheal Nanyangwe, Suwilanji, Zion Mutale based in Japan, Roberta Manda, and Mweshi Mulusa.
The rest are new-comers Regina Mwanza and Theresa Kabwita, among others.
On the supporting side will be Kings Malembe Malembe, Mathew Ngosa, Felix from Ndangeni Inshila fame, Potipher from Nankoko fame, Pompi, whose new album Mizu is doing well on the market and Son of Africa, Ephraim.
The rest are Mag44, Tio, Marvellous, Papa Bruno and Chingola-based United Church of Zambia (UCZ) group Yaweh My Destiny.
