MP’s called to be objective on Rupiah Banda’s immunity

The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has called on members of parliament to be objective as the debate the lifting of former republican president, Rupiah Banda’s immunity.

SACCORD acting Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says it is important the MP’s fully understand the issue before them for them to act in the best interest of the nation.

Mr. Cheembe says if the parliamentarians feel lifting Mr. Banda’s immunity is the best action, then it should be done but states that if they will not be sure on the step to take, it will be important that they do not rush to making a decision.

In an interview with QFM, Mr. Chembe says what is of importance is that the case should be carried out in a manner that is objective and a reflection of the country%u2019s interest.
