Mr. Kalaba said one of the promises which government made was attending to people’s challenges which include displacement due to floods.
He said government will ensure that disaster prone points in Lusaka and the rest of the country were worked on urgently.
He said said this today when he inspected newly constructed culverts in Kaunda Square Stage One, Mayi Chazula and Ngwerere Bridge in Lusaka Central and Mandevu constituencies respectively.
Mr. Kalaba said the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) was constructing culverts and bridges in Lusaka province and the rest of the country.
He said DMMU was working with the Zambia National Service and District Commissioners.
And Lusaka District Commissioner Ashwell Kampengele thanked the office of the Vice President for providing resources for the construction of some bridges.
Mr. Kampengele said bridges and crossing points that have been put up will help prevent unnecessary loss of lives in Lusaka and the rest of the country.
He has since appealed to residents where such structures have been constructed to guard them jealously.
