North western province Steven
Masumba says he is disappointed with Kansanshi Mine management for
failing to avail his office with a report on the fatal mine accident
that occurred on Wednesday this week.
Mr. Masumba said he has been pleading for a report from Kansanshi mine
management on what happened but nothing has been received yet apart
from giving excuses that investigations are still going on.
The minister said this behavior by the mine management has
disappointed him and that he will not condone it as long as it affects
the lives of the people in the province.
“ I am wondering why Kansanshi decided to report the accident to the
media first and not this office how does government handle the matter
considering that the accident claimed a life.“ This behavior is disappointing, Kansanshi management has taken this government for
granted, ‘’ he charged.
A miner died on Wednesday at Kansanshi mine and four others were
injured following a suspected gassing accident that occurred at its
processing plant.
He said he will force himself into the mine for him to know what is
happening if Kansanshi management continues to give excuses on serious
matters such as a mine accident because people who voted government
into power want to know what is happening.
And Mr. Masumba has asked Kansanshi mine management to take full.
