The Zambia Tourism Board (ZTB) has embarked on an ambitious program to showcase the country’s tourism potential abroad.
And Zambia has successfully participated in the Dutch premier vocation Fair- vankantiebeurs held in Utretch Netherlands.
ZTB Marketing Director Mato Shimabale said this when he paid a courtesy call on Zambia’s ambassador to Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg and the European Union Grace Mutale Mwape.
This was contained in a statement made available to ZANIS by first secretary for press and public relations Lambwe Kachali at the Zambian embassy in Belgium.
Mr. Shimabale who led the Zambia delegation said this was in line with government policy of using tourism as one of the pillars for economic growth and employment creation.
He said it was imperative that all channels were utilized effectively to brand Zambia as tourist destination adding that the Dutch market has emerged as one of the top ten source markets for Zambia that needed continued tapping into the Zambian market.
He explained that Zambian stand included private sector operators such as Tecla Lodges from Lusaka, Mukambi safari lodge and Track and Trail River Camp from Kafue and south Luangwa parks among others.
He further said contacts were established with key leading Dutch travel operators such as Kuoni, Miles, Djoser and Thika present at the fair.
And Ambassador Kabwe expressed happiness with the initiative to provide more marketing support to the embassies and pledged Brussels’s Mission total support.
