The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says the symbols for the referendum vote will remain unchanged despite concerns raised by stakeholders over their appropriateness.
ECZ Public Relations Manager Crispin Akufuna says the commission has resolved as its final decision that the eye and the ear will represent the referendum vote of ‘Yes and No’ respectively.
Mr. Akufuna says this means that stakeholders in the electoral process will do well to focus their attention on unbundling the referendum question to the members of the public.
He has particularly urged the civil society and the media to help people understand the referendum question.
Mr. Akufuna says the commission on its part is already using bundle text messaging as well as comical description works to make people understand the question.
