SUSPENDED Kitwe mayor Kelvin Sinyangwe has been re-arrested after Kitwe High Court judge-in-charge Catherine Makungu issued a warrant for his arrest.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Charity Katanga, in an interview yesterday, said the warrant of arrest against Mr Sinyangwe was issued recently.
Ms Katanga said Mr Sinyangwe was picked up from his house yesterday morning and taken to Kitwe district police headquarters.
She said Mr Sinyangwe was later taken to Kamfinsa Remand Prison where he will be detained for 14 days.
“It is not the police who have arrested Mr Sinyangwe, it is the Kitwe High Court which issued a warrant of arrest. Mr Sinyangwe was picked this morning from his residence and availed to the Kitwe district officer commanding who handed him over to the commanding officer at Kamfinsa State Prison,” she said.
