There was laughter in a Lusaka Local Court when a man said that his wife dresses like a ‘prostitute’ despite being a grown up woman.

This was heard in Matero Local Court in a case in which Kandle Mulunda, 30, of Chunga compound sued his wife, Loveness Zulu, 28, for reconciliation.
The two got married in 2006 and have one child.
Mulunda told Senior Court Magistrate Lewis Mumba sitting with Magistrate Pauline Newa that he was embarrassed with the way Zulu dressed herself up.

He explained that he later decided to send Zulu to her parents. As she was going, she dressed in an extremely short skirt and he could not differentiate between a wife and a prostitute.
Mulunda said that whenever he questioned Zulu about her dressing, she would insult him in public.

In defence, Zulu said she no longer loved Mulunda and that all she wanted was divorce.
She explained that Mulunda a violent man and that at one time he broke her hand.
Zulu said because of Mulunda’s beatings she has scars all over her body.

Zulu further said that Mulunda had made her spend nights outside even when she was the one paying rentals.
“From the time we married I have never enjoyed my marriage because Mulunda would get any object and use it to beat me,” said Zulu.
Magistrate Mumba dismissed the claim after noting that the two were just cohabiting as dowry was not paid.
