FORMER National Savings and Credit Bank (NATSAVE) managing director Leonard Mwanza has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission for alleged corruption and abuse of office.

ACC corporate affairs officer Jonathan Siame said Mr Mwanza, 45, of Farm 610/101A, Foxdale in Lusaka, was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of abuse of authority of office contrary to Section 99 (1) of the Penal Code of the laws of Zambia.
Mr Siame said in a statement that details of the offence were that Mr Mwanza between July 1 and December 31, 2008 in Lusaka abused the authority of his office when he engaged a company called W and C Computers Limited to conduct a data cleansing exercise at the organisation without following the laid-down procurement procedures.
Mr Siame said the act was arbitrary and prejudicial to the rights or interests of the Government.
“Mr Mwanza denied the charge. He has since been released on bond and will appear in court on April 20 this year,” he said.
