NEWLY FORMED DEMOCRATIC FRONT-DF HAS CONTINUED TO SWALLOW MEMBERS FROM THE GOVERNING PATRIOTIC FRONT-PF IN KASAMA DISTRICT.

Latest defections have seen ex-PF Kasama District chairperson; Caleb Monta ditching the ruling party alongside five officials and twenty-eighty cadres.

Announcing his defection to join DF yesterday, Mr. Monta, who is immediate past PF district chairperson, cited undemocratic tendencies in the ruling party as the reason for leaving.

Meanwhile, former PF officials who resigned yesterday dispelled claims by some sections of the ruling party that their decision is motivated by money.

The ex-officials charged that on the contrary, move to leave the governing to join DF is a matter of principle and not otherwise.

The former officials include Gertrude Shimumbi District vice Chairlady, Patrick Kapya-Kasama constituency Treasurer and Gertrude Kalosha-Lukashya Constituency women Secretary.

Others are Christopher Kasonde-Kupumaula Ward Chairperson, Paul Chimbele-Newtown Branch Chairperson, John Mulenga-Kasama District Information and Publicity Secretary and his vice David Monta.

And receiving the defectors, Northern Province DF chairperson, Chomba Chipili said the massive defections from the PF shows that the ruling party is politically finished in the regional.

Early this week, over forty PF cadres and four named councillors in Kasama ditched the party to join the newly formed Democratic Front-DF stating that the PF has lost its founding vision of being a beacon of hope to all Zambians.

…But in a dramatic turn of events, the PF government through Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila has revoked and cancelled with immediate effect the registration of the Democratic Front-DF.

Mr. Mwila journalists at his office yesterday that the certificate of registration for the DF has been cancelled due to failure by the top leadership to change the ownership party from David Chanda to Miles Sampa.
