Former Zambia Air Force employee takes own life after heavy drinking

A 68-YEAR-OLD former Zambia Air Force (ZAF) civilian employee has committed suicide after heavy drinking, Central Province commissioner of police Lombe Kamukoshi has said.
Ms Kamukoshi said in an interview yesterday George Mutale of Zambani area took his own life on Thursday between 04:30 hours and 06:00 hours.
“The deceased’s daughter, Cynthia Mutale, 29, of Chimanimani reported the matter to the police and stated that the family had noticed his heavy drinking habits in the last few days,” she said.
Ms Kamukoshi said Mr Mutale, who was working for ZAF as a civilian, was retrenched because of mental illness.
She said police are not suspecting any foul play.
