‘Diplomat lover showers my wife with gifts’

A WOMAN of Lusaka’s Matero township has been dragged to court by her husband after being caught having sex with her lover in their home.
John Phiri, 36, said despite being caught, his wife Angela Phiri, 30, has continued the relationship with her lover who showers her with gifts such as jewellery. He said Angela’s lover also gives her money and has also bought her an I-Phone 6.
John told Matero Local Court magistrates Lewis Mumba and Pauline Newa that problems in their marriage started when she enrolled for college.
John has sued his wife Angela, who he married in 2008 although no bride price was paid, for divorce. They have no children together.
“She can afford all these luxuries because her lover is a diplomat. She brings him into our home telling our neighbours that the man is my nephew. My wife tells her mates from college that she is single,” he said.
John complained that Angela no longer behaves like a married woman but more like a prostitute.
“I am now a laughing stock in my community because of her behaviour. I am fed up. There is no intimacy between us because she also denies me my conjugal rights. She threatens to squeeze my private parts when I try to make advances in bed,” he said.
But Angela told the court that her husband is a jealous man who constantly monitors her movements.
“He tells me that he no longer finds me sexually appealing that’s why I seek attention elsewhere from my friends,” she said.
The court granted divorce and ordered John to pay Angela K10, 000 as compensation with an initial instalment of K3,000 starting January month-end.

  1. Hope her husband never cheated as well, because nowadays even women have learnt to cheat. Men defended themselves to say “ubucende bwamwaume tabonaula ing’anda.

  3. Ba John Phiri,i know it is painful but just divorce this woman and go on with your life.It is going to be hard on the children,i suppose you have. But it will be worse exposing them to such.Believe me even if you had bought an i phone for her she would have lusted for something else.Eventually she was going to expect you to get her a rolls royce or a maybach. You can’t win against such!!!

  4. Mr Elemiah mwanza.. Sorry to say this to u but ur comment is not necessary… I expect someone at ur age to speak wisely…read my comment and tell me what is wrong with it…u ar supposed to show good examples unlike the ugly one u have just given…we ar commenting on a story in the news n not on my character….

  5. U see that is where the problem is…when a bad thing happens, people should not just condemn and criticize no..but should learn from it…that’s the point I was expecting u gentlemen to get from my comment..I said as a man learn to provide for ur wife and as a women learn to be content with what ur husband can afford to provide..and hence the emphasis on knowing your partner before marriage….I comment so that people get something out of it not for the sake of…tell me what can people learn from ur comment on this story?…

  6. U see my brother mr lubinda malumo u should have asked before saying anything…am not married and I don’t even know this woman….like I said don’t respond to my opinion but comment on the story in the paper…..I didn’t see anywhere written Gloria or maybe u don’t have eyes…

Mr Oath Sir, I will not ague with u coz u ar intitled to ur opinion but pliz dont ague mine….respond to the story in the paper…I did not say women should leave their husbands when times are hard but that they should be content with what they can provide…read n understand… Don’t just pick a part n criticize…

  8. @Dingiswayo Clements Khuzwa Mphanza….if u have read my comment nicely, u will realise one thing…I don’t take sides..I say it as it is….in this story, the Lady is not all to blame but the man too for failing to give her what she sought in the other man…its like u go to slip leaving ur door open and then blame the thief for entering ur home instead of ur self for leaving the door open…..

    • WAT IF THE MAN CANT AFFORD AN i FON 6 WICH A WOMAN WANTS N DOES NOT NID BUT CAN AFFORD A BASIC FON DOES IT MEAN SHE HAS TO OPEN HER LEGS FOR SOMEONE ELSE WHO JST PROVIDES IN INTERVALS YET MAYB THE MAN PROVIDES DAY IN N DAY OUT

  9. 1 Corinthians Chapter 6 – Advices us to turn away from such people. Watch from a distance and see how she will be greately disappointed by this same man. No man finds exquisite delight in a used woman, its only for a little while.

  10. Wat more was a man expected to provide for her? I assume she started school at the expense of her husband ,more so, the foolish men who go out with married women re also stupid

  11. The problem today is that most of our men have forgotten their responsibilities…. Instead of the man providing n taking care of the wife, he leaves her to it…what do u expect from a with needs that the husband can’t meet? To my fellow women pliz!!!! don’t aim high when u have no means of getting there…know ur habby before marriage n be content with what they can provide…this lady was very wrong In what she did n i can not support such behaviour….
