Re-run of August 11th is inevitable

Voting in sparsely populated Zambezi-West parliamentary by-election started on schedule at 06:00 hours and at Mapashi polling station 45 people had cast their votes by 06:39 hours.

The Zambian Voice says it is political exaggeration for any single political party to assume it can win this year’s general election in the first run.

Executive Director Chilufya Tayali however, states that with the full support of the MMD, either the ruling PF or UPND can go on to win this year’s general election in first round of voting.
Mr. Tayali states that the swing vote in this year’s elections will come from the opposition MMD.
He states the current political mood in the Country suggests that a re-run of the presidential is inevitable.
Mr. Tayali says this is considering that there is currently no household name from either the ruling party or the opposition for any of them to claim popularity over the other.
He notes that both the ruling PF candidate and Republican President Edgar Lungu and UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema, who appear to be front-runners, are presently sharing popularity
