THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Kitwe has arrested a prosecutor in the Zambia Police Service for soliciting a K2,000 bribe to arrange bail for an accused person.

ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono said Peter Masandiko, 43, of Wusakile Police Camp, a police prosecutor at the Kitwe Subordinate Court, was arrested last Friday and is charged with one count of corrupt practices by public servant.
It is alleged that Masandiko, on unknown dates, between December 1 and 20, 2015, corruptly solicited for K2,000 from Mutale Mulenga.
Masandiko allegedly received K1,000 cash as an inducement to arrange bail for Mulenga, who was charged with one count of obtaining pecuniary advantage in the Kitwe Magistrate’s Court. Mr Moono said Masandiko has been released on bond and will appear in court soon.
