A 25-year-old Chinese woman appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates Court for battering a fellow Chinese woman for allegedly interfering in her love affair.
Gui Huai Xiang of plot 488A Kabulonga denied the charge and told Magistrate Prince Mwiinga that she did not touch Victoria Lui.
She said she understood the charge leveled against her but denied it through her Chinese interpreter, saying that the alleged battering was just speculation.
But Victoria told the court that Gui beat and assaulted her after suspecting her of having an affair with her lover.
She said Gui followed her to her house in Kabulonga where she hit her with an iron bar which left her injured.
She claimed that had it not been for quick response by the police to rescue her Gui would have killed her.
The incident happened on October 27.
In another court, a Pakistan, 21, appeared for illegally staying in Zambia.
Majeed Abdul of Block 32, Mumbwa Road Garden House, is charged with one count of remaining in the country after expiry of his permit.
