The Transparency International Zambia -TIZ- has called on the Anti Corruption Commission -ACC- to urgently investigate allegations that have been raised about financial impropriety at the Football Association of Zambia -FAZ.
TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu says it is important that the investigations are thorough and include the Nike deal and the replica jersey alleged saga, the ticketing system, match agent commissions among others.
Lungu says this follows the allegations made by the former FAZ Treasurer Kelvin Mutafu on alleged financial impropriety at Football House.
He says in a statement issued to ZNBC News that the allegations come at a time when FIFA the world football governing body is itself embroiled in numerous corruption related allegations.
Lungu says TIZ urges Mutafu and all other stakeholders who have information to cooperate with ACC and all relevant bodies so that a good job is done.
He added that FAZ should fully cooperate as it is in the interest of the organisation that these allegations are investigated and those that maybe found wanting, dealt with accordingly.
Lungu has assured the public that TIZ, we will closely follow this matter and we continue to engage all relevant stakeholders involved in investigating these allegations of impropriety.
