A KITWE husband has narrated in the Buchi Local Court that his daughter told him about a sexual relationship his wife was having with his close friend.
Keegan Kashiba, 31, told Magistrate Elizabeth Banda that he usually found his friend Soft Banda, 23, at his home with his wife each time he returned home from work in Luanshya.
Kashiba was narrating in a case in which she sued Banda for compensation for adultery.

“Banda is my friend. We work together as well. So I never suspected he would start an affair with my wife. I never even suspected them because I regarded him as my brother but he didn’t treat me as one by having a sexual relationship with my wife,” Kashiba said.
Kashiba said he started monitoring Banda’s movements and discovered there could be some truth in what he had been hearing from his daughter.
“I kept a close eye on him and observed how my wife was behaving when he was around. One time, I got his phone and checked for my wife’s number and found it. When I asked him about it, he told me my wife had been pursuing him. He even called my wife a prostitute,” he said.
Kashiba told the court that Banda intentionally destroyed his marriage and home by deciding to start an affair with his wife.
“He should compensate me for what he has done,” he said.
But Banda denied having an affair with Kashiba’s wife, saying he visits them because he considers him and his wife as his family.
“I got his wife’s number by virtue of her being my wife’s friend and not because I was having an affair with her,” he said.
Passing judgment, the court upheld the claim and ordered Banda to pay Kashiba K10,000 as compensation for committing adultery. Banda was ordered to pay monthly instalments of K500.
