State House has revealed emissaries had been sent to President Edgar Lungu to have Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda and Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili fired and have them replaced with Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa.

And President Lungu has elected not to comment on the surprise resignation of former Commerce Deputy Minister Miles Sampa.

In a briefing at State House, Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda says there were people that had approached President Lungu at State House to have the duo fired and have Sampa replace them.

Chanda revealed that President Lungu found the suggestion absurd and brushed it off but would not further comment on the decision by the Commerce Deputy Minister to quit government.

“On the issue of the Honourable Sampa’s decision to resign from government, President Lungu won’t issue any comment.

But we would like to state however that a day before Hon. Sampa resigned, emissaries had come to State House to see the President and proposed that the President fires Honourable Kambwili or Finance Minister Chikwanda and replace them with Hon. Sampa.

They suggested that if Hon. Sampa is included, then the question of Bemba representation in government would be settled. But that suggestion was absurd” Chanda said.

Chanda however stated that they could categorically state who had sent the emissaries to the Head of State over the matter.
