ELEVATOR CRUSHES ZAMBIAN MAN TO DEATH

A TWENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD forklift operator in Kapiri Mposhi died on the spot after an elevator fell off smashing his head in the process.
The deceased Jackson Siwale of Riverside Township, was crushed as he tried to put some bags in order, but accidentally pressed on a lowering gear, which caused the elevator to fall on him.
Central Province Commissioner of Police, Lombe Kamukoshi said this in an interview in Kabwe yesterday.
“I can confirm that we have picked up a body of a forklift operator who has had his head smashed after the elevator he was operating accidently came down on him,” she said.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon and the body was currently at the Kapiri Mposhi Hospital mortuary.
In another development a 67-year-old man of Kabwe has been arrested for allegedly attempting to dig up a grave in a cemetery.
The suspect, Sailas Mutambalika, was allegedly found at the grave site on Tuesday evening trying to dig up a grave and was caught by suspicious members of the public who handed him to the police.
She said the accused had been charged with trespass in a burial place and would appear in court soon.
“We have arrested a Kabwe man who was found to be interfering with a grave and would soon appear in court,”she said.
She warned that police would not allow any person interfering with burial places.
