COACH Tenant Chilumba is optimistic Power Dynamos will finish second on the Super Division log and represent the country in the 2016 Confederation Cup.
“I know it is tough but we can still finish second. Let’s not dwell on what will happen in the other game [Zanaco against Green Eagles], but focus on winning our match,” said Chilumba in an interview in Chililabombwe.
Power beat Nchanga Rangers 2-1 on Sunday.
The Kitwe giants need to beat Forest Rangers 13-0 on Saturday and hope Zanaco lose to Green Eagles without scoring.
Third-placed Power have 57 points, three behind Zanaco.
But Power defender Govenda Simwala has given up on representing the country in next year’s Confederation Cup.
“To be honest, I think we can’t finish second. We will just be third,” said Simwala, who was voted man-of-the-match on Sunday.
And Rangers coach Fighton Simukonda is targeting overhauling the team next season.

In a post-match interview, Simukonda said the team is not balanced.
Rangers have 30 points, one better than Napsa Stars and Lusaka Dynamos while Konkola Blades have 28 points at par with Nakambala Leopards.
Rangers face Nkana in a Week 30 match in Kitwe on Saturday.
Nkana coach Aggrey Chiyangi is elated with the 3-0 bashing of Mufulira Wanderers, MWILA NTAMBI reports.
“This is what we should be doing every week. It is an outstanding performance from the players. They worked hard. But we want to maintain momentum going into next season,” Chiyangi said.
Nkana have 38 points.
Wanderers coach Manfred Chabinga congratulated Nkana for the win.
