The Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) Technician and a Lusaka Businessman for corrupt practices involving K4500.
Brian Chongo Mabengwa, 32, a ZESCO employee of House No 443 Limbe road, Chudleigh, has been arrested and charged with one count of Corrupt Practices by Public Officer contrary to Section 19(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012, while Fredrick Miyanda Shumba, 33, of House No 13134, Off Shantumbu Road, Chilenje has been charged with corrupt practices by with Public Officer contrary to section 19(1) as read with section 41 of the Anti- Corruption Act No.3 of 2012.

 

Details are that Mabengwa, on unknown dates but between 1st February 2013 and 31st May 2013 in Lusaka, being a public officer namely electrical technician at Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation jointly and whilst acting together with Fredrick Shumba a businessman and other persons unknown did corruptly solicit for K4500 and actually received K2000 as an inducement or reward for themselves to facilitate a quick connection of power supply to a named clients ‘s residence at 14 Miles Area, Great North Road, a matter or transaction that concerns ZESCO a public body
The duo is currently on bond and will appear in court on 27th October 2015.
