VJ urges President Lungu to renew commitment to graft fight

Veteran Politician Vernon Mwaanga says corruption has caused an unbearable loss to the country economy in recent years, and has since urged President Edgar Lungu to renew his commitment in the fight against graft.
Mr. Mwaanga says corruption undermines citizens’ confidence in democratic institutions and the rule of law; and also hurts the economy and deprives state of much-needed tax revenue.
He says many Zambiavj laughingstockn citizens believe corruption has become worse as a result of the deep economic and financial problems in the country brought about by the sovereign debt crisis.

 

Mr. Mwaanga says there is need for the President to renew his commitment in the fight against corruption so as to build corruption free Zambia.
He says as a Lawyer, President Lungu should emulate the late President Levy Mwanawasa, who fought corruption head on.
Mr. Mwaanga has observed that Corruption within the public sector remains one of the biggest challenges.
He states that corruption still remains one of the country’s most difficult obstacles for development.
