A 21-YEAR-OLD man of Ndola’s Itawa residential area will spend the next 12 months in prison doing hard labour after a Ndola magistrate’s court found him guilty of stabbing his older brother on his arm and nose with a knife.
Magistrate Emmanuel Malenga convicted Dominic Njekwa, 21, of house number 33, Chikola road, after he pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding.
Mr Malenga noted that Njekwa’s behaviour was barbaric.
“Your actions of attacking innocent members of the community in this civilised world are uncalled for. I will put you out of circulation temporarily by sending you to jail for 12 months effective from October 6, being the date of your arrest,” Mr Malenga said.

The court heard that on October 3 this year, Njekwa unlawfully wounded Mwiya Njekwa.
In mitigation, he pleaded with the court to be lenient on him as he was a first offender who was remorseful for his actions.
Facts before court were that on the material day around 17:00 hours, Mwiya, who is the older brother to Njekwa, was at home when he (Njekwa) arrived and said that he was going to beat Mwiya because of his alleged stupidity towards him.
The court heard that when Mwiya tried to ask as to what wrong he had committed, the accused started throwing punches on him.
Njekwa got a knife and stabbed Mwiya on his right arm and nose, causing him to sustain cuts on both parts and he bled profusely.
The court heard that their mother came and separated the two and took Mwiya to the Central police station.
Njekwa admitted the charge.
