The Ministry of Mines has clarified that Lunga Minerals and Exploration Limited’s Minerals processing licences does not cover nor include the contentious ” Black Mountain ” in Kitwe on the Copperbelt.

This is according to the” Affidavit Verifying Fact” filed in the Lusaka High Court two days ago and signed by Acting Head Mining Cadastral Unit Micheal Chibonga.

The affidavit was filed pursuant to the Court Order dated September 10, 2015.

The Lusaka High Court ordered the Ministry of Mines to verify the geographical coverage of the Mineral Processing Licence Number 103482-HQ-MPL of Lunga Minerals.

The court further ordered the Ministry of Mines to verify the geographical coverage of Large Scale Nkana Alloy and Smelting Company’s Mineral Processing Number 7071-HQ-LML.

Lunga Minerals and Exploration Limited and Nkana Alloy and Smelting Company had earlier entered a consent judgement for the Ministry of Mines to verify the location of the former’s Mineral Processing Licence number 103482-HQ-MPL .

This in a matter where Lunga Minerals and Exploration Limited and Nkana Alloy and Smelting Company’s have counter-claimed the ownership of the contentious ”Black Mountain Black ”.
