THE Patriotic Front (PF) will start holding provincial conferences next month to elect new committees, chairperson for elections Emmanuel Mpakata has said.

Mr Mpakata said in an interview yesterday that to enhance intra-party democracy and to prepare for the national conference, the PF central committee will meet on October 2 to decide on the dates of the provincial conferences.

“These provincial committees the party will undertake are meant to elect new committees that will usher in a national conference,” Mr Mpakata said.
He said PF is preoccupied with re-organising itself in readiness for next year’s presidential and general elections.

He dispelled reports that the party has started selecting and scrutinising parliamentary candidates for the 2016 elections.
“We have a lot of work ahead of us to begin looking at the issue of parliamentary candidates now. But we are in tandem with the happenings,” Mr Mpakata said.
The PF promotes intra-party democracy through the holding of conferences.
