The Immigrations Department says former Defense Minister Geofrey Bwalya Mwamba is free to travel abroad once he acquires an ordinary Zambian passport.

On Tuesday the Immigrations Department withdrew Mr. Mwamba’s diplomatic passport.

Mr Mwamba’s passport was repossessed at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport when he attempted to leave the country using the government travel document.

Immigrations Department Public Relations Officer Namati Nshinka confirmed the development to ZNBC news in Lusaka.

Mr Nshinka dismissed suggestions that Mr Mwamba, commonly known as GBM, was arrested and detained.

Mr Nshinka said Mr Mwamba who is opposition UPND Vice President for Administration is a free person and will be cleared to travel outside the country with an appropriate passport.
