A CHOMA man has pleaded guilty to beating his wife on suspicion that she infected him with syphilis.

 

In this case, Hamweene Siamanhwa, a farmer who lives around Kacenje Primary School area, is charged with assault.
Particulars of the offence are that on unknown date in March this year, in Choma, Siamanhwa allegedly assaulted Mary Chiyabi and occasioned her actual bodily harm.
When the matter came up for plea before magistrate Mbololwa Mukela on Tuesday, Siamanhwa admitted the charge.
“Yes, I admit the charge, I beat her using a stick,” he said.
When asked why he beat his wife, Siamanhwa said: “I beat her because I wanted to establish where the syphilis I had came from.”
The court then adjourned the matter to a later date for written facts.
