Unknown people have exhumed the body of a 32-year-old resident of Mulenga Hills township in Kasama who was buried last month.
ZANIS reports that the residents of Mulenga Hills have expressed shock after discovering that the grave of one of their late neighbors had been tampered with by unknown people.
Northern Province Deputy Police Commissioner Alfred Nawa who confirmed the bizzare incident to ZANIS in Kasama today said the matter was reported yesterday by Japhet Sikombe, a brother to the deceased.
Mr. Nawa explained that this was after a passerby found the coffin and body of the deceased outside the grave and decided to alert his relatives.
Mr Nawa said the deceased aged 32 years belonging to the Sikombe family of Kasama was buried last month at the family grave yard.
He said the Sikombe family was however shocked upon discovering that the body of their late relative had been exhumed.
Mr. Nawa added that an empty bucket was also found in the grave but that the body and the coffin were not tempered with.
He said the motive behind the act is not yet known but police have since launched investigations into the matter.
