Zambia coach George Lwandamina is keeping a close eye on the veteran 2012 Afcon stars who have returned to the Faz Super League with potentially an eye on the 2016 Chan qualifiers.

The second half of the 2015 Super League has been graced by the return of 2012 Afcon winning captain Christopher Katongo, who is back at Green Buffaloes, and defender Joseph Musonda, who has rejoined Nkana, after over ten years abroad.

The duo join Zanaco midfielder Isaac Chansa who has been in-and-out of the Super League over the last two years.

“It is important for them to come back and what is important is that they are back and playing in the league,” Lwandamina said.

“We will be monitoring them closely. We’ll keep an eye on them and see how they will be performing.”

Katongo, Chansa and Musonda are all eligible to play in the Chan qualifiers that is exclusively for domestic league-based players.

Zambia will face Mozambique in the final round qualifiers in October.

The first leg is scheduled for October 17 in Lusaka while the final leg decider will be played on October 24 in Maputo.

The winner will qualify to the Chan final to be hosted by Rwanda from January 16 to February 7, 2016.
